Welcome to our website

The village of Goldhanger lies on the north bank of the Blackwater Estuary, between Heybridge and Tollesbury on the B1026.

St. Peter’s Church is central to the spirit of the village and the close community here. We hold services on the second Sunday of the month at 10:00am and a family service every other week. Everyone is welcome. See the dates for our monthly services on this page.

Our church is a tranquil place to be whether you wish to pray, light a votive candle, admire the church interior or just sit in peace.

The Community Room provides a small meeting room, a kitchen, disabled toilet facilities, and disabled access to the Church.

We have a number of events involving the whole village every year and it is a favourite place for marriages due to the beautiful setting.

The church has a long history dating back to the 11th century. There may well have been a religious site here since Saxon times. We have 8 bells in the church tower, two of which date back to 1657.

The church is open during daylight hours but times may vary so please avoid very early or very late visits.

We are committed to Safeguarding children and young people and vulnerable adults.

The PCC has adopted the Church of England’s policies and best practice on safeguarding which may be found on the Church of England’s website.

Details of our Parish Safeguarding Representative can be found here.
